If you happen to own a transportation business, we’re excited for you. Why? Couples are spending more than ever on their wedding day transportation, according to our most recent study, The Knot Real Weddings Study 2016. Here, 3 notable findings on transportation.
About half of all engaged couples book professional transportation.
Booking professional transportation is on the to-do list for half of all couples planning their weddings, according to our study. That could mean anything from a stretch limo to a shuttle bus for all the guests to be transported to and from the reception.
Also good to know? Couples spend about 6.5 months researching transportation options and book at just under 5 months in advance from their wedding.

Shuttles and Buses Are On The Rise — Big Time!
The largest shift in couples’ behavior when it comes to their wedding day transportation is the increase in demand for shuttles and buses — up 16 points in the past 6 years. This goes hand in hand with the trend toward investing in the guest experience. (Couples are spending more on guest experiences overall as well.) So roomy buses and shuttles with all the amenities for the bridal party and guests are in high demand.
Also Good To Know? There are a few apps like Boston-based Skedaddle, which makes it easy to arrange routes, vehicles for bridal parties and guests with approved bus and shuttle partners, popping up across the country directed at helping couples more seamlessly book transportation.

They’re splitting the bill for transportation.
When it comes to paying for the wedding day transportation, just under a quarter of couples (23%) are footing the full bill. Instead, the bill is more often getting divvied up between the families of the bride and groom.
