7 Ways To Rock Your SEO

Making it to the top of Google search results is on everyone’s to-do list (and if it’s not, it should be). Here, a few must-dos to help you reach that number one spot.

1. Make Sure Your Site Is Mobile-Friendly.

Fact: More than 50% of searches are coming from mobile. The best way to mobile optimize your site? Keep it simple (aka make sure your contact info is easy for couples to locate).

 2. Do A Keyword Audit.

With Siri and “Ok, Google” thrown in the mix, couples are changing their search habits. Rather than typing “florist in Austin”, a couple may ask Siri “Who is the best florist in Austin?”. What’s this mean for you? “Natural Language” now needs to be a part of your SEO keyword strategy, so put yourself in the shoes of a couple and image how they might search for you. Add these few phrases to your website via content marketing (like your blog) and you’ll be well on your way to being better discovered through search.

3. Make Sure Everything Works, Fast.

Nothing puts a damper on your search ranking like non-essential or broken elements (think: broken links, broken images, pop-ups, etc.). Also, avoid Flash. It’s not available on every device and will stall a user’s session. Instead, focus on using HTML5 and Javascript.

4. Write Content That Inspires (Not Sells).

Fresh content will drive more couples to your website and keep them there longer–and since time spent and overall traffic to your website boosts your pagerank over time, it’s a no brainer. Plus, you can pair technical SEO with content to give your search ranking an extra boost.

5. Create Link-Backs To Your Site From Big Sites.

Traffic to your website from other (bigger) sites helps improve your search ranking. So chat with your venue and photography friends to see if they’ll link to you from their site, then work on getting listed with major players like TheKnot.com, Two Bright Lights, Google My Business and Yelp.

6. Optimize Your Photos And Videos.

Just like traditional content, keywords are crucial to photo and video SEO (so no images should be titled “IMG_6413”). Include tags that are meaningful to your target audience so they can find your content (and you!) faster. If you specialize in something like “fondant cakes” or “king cakes”, tag your photos using these terms.

7. Google Map Yourself.

Your name, address and phone number (NAP) are seriously everywhere, so make sure it’s accurate!
