We caught up with The Knot social media maven, Jessica Molinari, and got the inside scoop on what she looks for when selecting photos to post on The Knot Instagram, check it out!

  1. Did you use our hashtags? #TheKnot is checked daily by both the social and Real Weddings team. This is great place for your work to get recognized. Some other hashtags to start using are #theknotweddings, #theknotvenues, #theknotcakes + #theknotdresses. We check this often, especially around blitz weeks! While tagging @theknot in your photos is helpful, we may not necessarily see it as we get flooded with thousands of notifications a day. Using any of these hashtags will ensure that your post is archived for us to see when we (or anyone else!) look through that hashtag.
  2. Are all the correct wedding pros tagged? An Instagram post is so much more valuable when we’re able to provide ALL the wedding pro info to our followers, not just your information. When you’re posting images to your own account, be sure to give some love to the other vendors. (Psst.. this will boost the engagement on your posts, too!)
  3. How’s the image quality? Make sure the image you post is the best quality you have available. This will help it perform better! Also, a photo that is square or vertical will ALWAYS do better than a horizontal photo. We tend to stay away from posting horizontal for that reason. Keep this in mind when choosing how to crop an image.
  4. Is there something interesting or unique about the photo? Our followers come to our Instagram to get ideas and inspiration for their own wedding. So while couple portraits are pretty, they don’t necessarily provide our followers with a new idea or prompt them to like the port or tag friends in comments — that’s why we often will choose a photo of a cool detail, unique reception or amazing dress over a portrait.
