Now more than ever managing your online reputation is critical to making your business look the best on the internet. A great online reputation — via tools like reviews — significantly impacts a consumer’s spending decisions and habits. On Wednesday, June 25th, Gabrielle Rolon, the new Director of Education at The Knot and Sarah Selph, Associate Manager of The Knot Strategy Specialist Team, hosted a live webinar on how to manage your online reputation with reviews. Some key takeaways:
- Reviews build trust: 85% of consumers say that they read online reviews to determine whether a business is credible and are more likely to purchase when they can find reviews online vs. when they can’t (source: searchengineland.com; reviewtrackers.com). Consumers interpret online reviews as if they are reading a personal recommendation and it makes your brand trustworthy when you have testimonials from past customers.
- Quantity of reviews matter: 82% of consumers read up to 7-10 reviews before they feel they can form an opinion about a business (source: searchengineland.com). Consumers are more likely to purchase from a business that has ratings and reviews, rather than from a business that has few reviews or no reviews at all. The more reviews the better!
- Negative reviews are valuable too: 95% of consumers become suspicious when they see only positive reviews and 68% of consumers trust reviews more when they see both negative and positive reviews (source: sociallyengagedmarketing.com). If you’ve found yourself with a negative review, remember the 3 R’s…read it, relax and then respond. 80% of customers are reassured when management responds to a negative review.
