Introducing new clients to the world of wedding lingo is now easier than ever with Learn to Speak Wedding: Flashcards for Beginners from Annie Lee of Daughter of Design! As every planner knows, there are a host of common terms, abbreviations, and other wedding industry vernacular that can sound like Greek to new clients. These beginner-level flashcards make a chic gift and promise to translate the terms of the trade for wedding newbies.
“Each time I start working with new clients I find myself educating them on the same basic terms,” author Annie Lee says. “As a planner who lives, eats, breathes weddings, I forget sometimes that these terms are not every day vocabulary to the layperson. ‘An escort card takes you to your table, a place card tells you which seat is yours,’ ‘First look is when you first meet for photos before the ceremony,’ ‘No, that’s not what STD means for weddings…’ That’s how I came up with the idea for a fast, easy, and of course pretty, way to learn to speak Wedding.”
Lee collaborated with leading couture stationery designer, Ceci Johnson of Ceci New York, on the cards’ gorgeous gold designs, intended to highlight Daughter of Design’s signature style. The cards have a single wedding term on one side with the definition on the reverse. Not only are they a great way to learn wedding terms, they can also help with planning decisions such as whether or not the couple would like a sweetheart table or if they would like their escort cards and place cards to match. They can also be great engagement gifts or a fun bridal shower trivia game!
